Le Mur Paris

This is the mural I painted for le mur in Paris on the 18th July. Le Mur is a public art association that invites artists to create a new mural every two weeks. As the work is destroyed after two weeks and thereafter only exists in photographs, I painted the word somewhere to relate to the location of the work, and the recurring social event that happens every two weeks. It was a way for me to explore the social role of art, as well as drawing a parallel to the transient nature of a contemporary lifestyle, the process from creating the work to installing it to it’s final form as a photograph. The font style was inspired by fairground rides and arcades, suggesting contemporary art as mere entertainment.
